CBM has recently published a ’Disability Inclusive Development’ (DID) Toolkit to support staff and partners to build capacity and knowledge on disability inclusive development. It has been designed as both a self-study guide, as well as a resource to support those undertaking training and capacity development with colleagues and partners.
Chapter 1 includes important questions such as what is disability, the different models of disability, appropriate language and communication and how to practice inclusion in our day to day work.
Are you a manager and are wondering how to integrate DID in your daily work? Then chapter 2 is for you. This chapter covers essentials such as CBM’s approach to DID, defines key responsibilities as a manager and how to promote inclusive practice as well as manage change processes.
Chapter 3 is geared towards programme staff in the field. It gives an overview of evolving concepts of disability, as well as the history of development theory and an introduction to human rights. It is aimed at ensuring that people coming from diverse backgrounds to work in CBM programmes have a common understanding and knowledge of CBM's programme approach.
If you are interested in knowing more about how to practice inclusive facilitation, training and capacity development then chapter 4 is for you. This chapter looks at methods to use when designing workshops, through to questions to reflect on for alternative means to promote disability inclusive development.
