Global Awareness Accessibility Day 2016
On 19 May 2016, we celebrate the fifth Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). Originally, this day encourages more awareness and action about digital (web, software, mobile, etc.) accessibility and users with different disabilities. For us, it is also a great opportunity to highlight our progresses and challenges sharing stories from our CBM colleagues and our CBM partners who implement accessibility at country level.
Last year, we celebrated the Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2015 with our accessibility experts from Haiti and the Philippines. This year, CBM is delighted to introduce two accessibility experts from Nepal and India:
Manish Prasai is the administrative manager of NFDN, a national organisation, representing 300 DPOs across the five regions of Nepal. He explains his work on accessibility and universal design along with how he overcame the challenges after the earthquake.
Jay Kumar is working as programme officer and member of advocacy team in CBM South Asian Regional Office. He tells us about his work on accessibility in the context of the Accessible India Campaign.
