Our annual report on our work to tackle Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) has just been launched virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2020 was a key year for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) - the target for the London Declaration on NTDs and the International Coalition on Trachoma Control’s GET2020 campaign, it also marks the start of the new WHO Roadmap on the elimination of NTDs.

In the past year, thanks to our partners and donors, CBM reached about 57 million people in 9 countries who were affected by NTDs and received treatment or underwent eye surgeries. An additional 31 million were treated through Mass Drug Administration (MDA).

CBM’s NTD Report 2020 updates on our current work and tells the story of the start of treatment for river blindness in a number of countries –DRC, CAR, South Sudan and Nigeria - where CBM pioneered this work. The report also celebrates the end of our successful contribution to the trachoma programme in Chad and reports on a trial in Nigeria to restart drug distribution safely in the context of COVID-19.
