CBM marks World NTD Day - 30th January 2022- Celebrating progress and taking action to #EndtheNeglect and #BeatNTDs

As the year comes to an end, we reflect on important events and achievements for our organisation this year.

CBM’s work in eye health started in 1908, and 112 years on, it has expanded to 106 partners across 35 countries implementing 124 projects in eye care and neglected tropical diseases. Along with numbers, there has been an immense progress in the way work is delivered, how surgery, planning and partnerships have improved.

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), celebrated annually on 3 December, we draw attention to a recently launched handbook on early rehabilitation in conflicts and disasters.

On International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2020, read the inspiring story of Lydia Maundé from Malawi. Thanks to CBM-supported partners in Malawi (Macoha and Nkhoma Hospital) Lydia has regained her vision and can participate in daily life again.

This year, CBM will use this Day to bring attention to avoidable blindness.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), also known as World Disability Day is observed on 3 December each year. This day aims to promote awareness of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

A day to reaffirm our commitment to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disability living in poor communities. CBM made progress in 2019.
