CBM's Director of the Inclusive Eye Health Initiative and Neglected Tropical Diseases team, Dr. Babar Qureshi, has been appointed as the Vice President to the board of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB).

The mission of the IAPB is to eliminate the main causes of avoidable blindness and visual impairment. The IAPB is the premier eye health body which brings together governments and non-governmental agencies to facilitate the planning, development and implementation of sustainable national eye care programmes. Their key priorities are global advocacy towards achieving universal access to eye health, enabling access to up-to-date knowledge, strengthening networks and providing services.

Dr. Qureshi will serve a four year term in the role.

I have been involved in IABP from its inception and I understand both its approach and its mission. I see my role as Vice President as one of guiding and supporting the IAPB management team, providing continual evaluation to ensure the organisation meets its strategy and aims and working to the very best of my ability towards making sure that equitable, inclusive and integrated eye health is a reality for all who need it.
